LORD AYYAPPA- the Dharma Sastha is his presiding deity. He has sung over 1000 songs devoted to Lord Ayyappa. The powerful songs still inspire millions of Ayyappa devotees around the world . K.G. Jayan used to render concert every year without any break on the Sabarimala Vilakku day for over the past 50 years. He has accompanied the procession of Divine Ornamental Costumes of Lord Ayyappa for over 45 years and sung on the vision of the Holy Light ( Makara Jyothi). As a divine ordainment K.G. Jayan taught many of the musical luminaries such as Dr. K.J. Yesudas, P. Jayachandran the ragas and rhythms of Ayyappa Devotional songs

Music Direction

Kalarathnam K.G. Jayan made the debut in the Malayalam film Bhoomiyile Maalaakha ( 1968) produced by Thomas Pictures. He went on composing `songs in Malayalam. Also composed music for a few Tamil films like Shanmuhapriya, Padapooja and Pappathi. He composed music for over 30 films in toto. Jayavijaya`s cevotional song Ishtadaivame Swamee saranamyappa was sung by P.Leela. It went on to become popular all over India. K.G. Jayan rendered music diretion to Dr. K. J. Yesudas, S. P Balasubramaniam, Dr. Balamuralikrishna, P. Jayachandran, T.M. Soundararajan, S, Janaki, P. Susheela, Chithra, Sujatha, Venugopal, Unnikrishnan, Radhika Thilak and Madhu Balakrishnan.
